Book Signing at Books on Beechwood
35 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa 11AM to 1PM

http://www.booksonbeechwood.ca/books

Books on Beechwood provided a cozy setting one rainy Saturday morning in late November for a book signing along with fellow Dog-Eared Books author Larry McCloskey. We were both on site to sign copies of our newest releases: my second Maryn O’Brien book Crushed, and The Dog Who Cried Snake, Larry's recently-released book about a mystery-solving street woman and her dog in the coldest Ottawa winter.

CBC Radio Show Interview

I thoroughly enjoyed my chat with Giacomo Panico on Thursday, Nov. 23 on the CBC radio show All in a Day (91.5 FM Ottawa). It was such a great opportunity to talk about the Maryn O’Brien series!

Hopewell Avenue Public School
17 Hopewell Ave, Ottawa

I had such fun visiting Mr. Borrens' English class at Hopewell Avenue Public school. This group of grade six students showed themselves to be both serious readers and serious writers, with an intense curiosity about the publishing world.  They will be reading and discussing book one (Crash Course) of my Maryn O'Brien series.  They will also be writing a novel as part of their English program!  They were respectful, engaging, smart, full of great ideas, and an absolute pleasure to meet!

Book Launch at The Cyclery, Ottawa
1115 Bank St. in Old Ottawa South, 5 - 7 pm.
I had the best time at the launch of Crushed—second in the Maryn O’Brien Series! The turnout was fantastic and it felt so right to gather at a cool local bike shop that sponsors female bike racers! Here, City of Ottawa Councillor, aspiring author, and regular shopper at The Cyclery, David Chernushenko, lined up with his daughter for a signed copy of the book.

Book Signing at Singing Pebble Books
202a Main Street, Ottawa  11 AM to 3 PM
mailto:info@singingpebblebooks.ca
I really enjoyed chatting with visitors about the
Maryn O’Brien series and sharing the feedback
I’ve received from young readers of the series so far.
I signed several copies of Crash Course and also divulged
some of what’s next for Maryn, the teenage mountain-bike racer, in the soon-to-be released second instalment,
Crushed

Focus Group Session
Had a first-rate discussion with this group of book lovers on Friday night! They recently read advance copies of Crushed, the second in the Maryn O’Brien series. The goal of the session was to identify themes for discussion and activities for teachers to use with their students. The ideas generated were brilliant and creative.

Visit to St. Anthony Catholic School for Education Week
I had a fantastic visit on May 3 with 70 smart and lively students (ages 8-12) at St. Anthony Catholic School. I talked about my book Crash Course, but we also talked about being a professional writer and the steps involved in writing a book of fiction. There was so much participation I couldn’t keep up! Together, the kids created an outline for a YA novel starring a teddy bear named Anthony. Their storyline included a broken magic portal, a tornado, and some poisoned snack food. It was a great day.

Book Club Meeting in Old
Ottawa South
The younger girls at this mother daughter book
club relate strongly to Maryn.  Even though not
every person is an athlete, we all have to cope
with the many pressures of life.

Book launch @ Life of Pie Bakery, Ottawa
Books and bakeries go together like pie and ice cream.  Here I am
(wearing the leather jacket) with fan, Krisi Tarpova.  I happily signed a lot of books that day.

Launch @ Carleton University Bookstore
I was delighted to join my friend and cover artist Jocelyn Van Wynsberghe for a book launch at the University bookstore.  If you didn't get a chance to pick up an autographed copy, message me and I'll see what we can do.
